Private bike lessons

Private Bike Lessons

One-on-one instruction for first-time, nervous and stuck riders, taught at the pace and in the way each child learns best.

Private Bike Lessons

A good fit for first-time, nervous and previously stuck riders.

  • Approximately age 4.5 and older
  • No balance or pedaling experience required
  • Pace and cues adapted to the child

One rider. One instructor. One clear progression.

The lesson changes when the child needs it to—not when a group schedule says it should.

Instructors watch where progress stops, then adjust the words, demonstration, game, pace or amount of support.

Balance before pedalingWe reduce the number of skills the rider has to coordinate at once.

Confidence is taughtSmall, visible successes help replace fear with willingness.

Progress is individualizedSome riders move quickly; others need more repetition or a quieter route.

Inside a learn-to-ride lesson

A sequence designed to make a complex skill feel manageable.

  1. 01

    Fit and readiness

Check the bike, lower the seat, remove pedals and meet the rider where they are.

  2. 02

    Comfort and gliding

Use feet, games and attainable goals to build longer, steadier glides.

  3. 03

    Braking and turning

Layer control skills onto the balance foundation.

  4. 04

    Pedaling and follow-through

Reconnect the pedals and reinforce independent starts, stops and control.

Choose the amount of runway

Most new riders should begin with two lessons.

The recommendation is based on giving the child enough time to learn and then make the new skill more reliable.

Ilana and the team are miracle workers. The lessons made my child feel at ease and gave her the confidence and skill she needed to take off. As my daughter said, “Why didn’t you just tell me it was so simple?”

Choose Three Lessons

Progress varies. Most children typically learn in two to three lessons, with some learning in one. No exact outcome or timeline is guaranteed.

Arrive ready

A properly prepared bike gives the rider more lesson time.

Bring the bike, pedals, a properly fitted helmet and water. Lower the seat so both feet rest flat with knees slightly bent, and remove the pedals before arriving if possible.
